Sustaining local environmental mobilisations: groups, actions and claims in Southern Europe
Article Abstract:
Evidence from Spain, Portugal and Greece can be used to gain an insight into issues relating to grass-roots environmental movements, including what constitutes such movements and whether grass-roots mobilizations have been increasing. This research has made it possible to identify the differences and similarities between short-term grass-roots environmental activism and community-based environmental movements. It appears that local environmental movements are sustained community-based mobilizations in which there is intensive protest activity.
