A meta-analysis of antidepressant outcome studies that involved children and adolescents
Article Abstract:
The results of a meta-analysis of 27 studies that involved research on the response of children and adults to antidepressant medications are presented. The studies were analyzed according to such methodological criteria as rater and subject blindness, placebo group design, and sample size. Methodological flaws were found in most of the antidepressant studies analyzed. Recommendations for future research include better overall experimental design and increased use of multiple rating instruments.
