Scholarly discourse on art and human development
Article Abstract:
The varying agenda of theory and research has emerged to address the need for framing the complex developmental psychology of art. A multilateral construct has tried to define art-making as a means to develop social negotiation and symbolic thinking, a distinct social phenomenon calling for the advancement of cognitive functioning, and as a historical milieu where contemporary artistic views are interconnected. Artistic development is also associated with behavioral growth, graphic symbolization skills, and perceptual/cognitive abilities.

Value in artistic development: raising a new agenda
Article Abstract:
The creative process of artistic development reflects the active participation of both child and artist in the cultural community. In view of this, the need for studying children's drawings within a broader perspective has emerged, focusing equally on the social, affective and cognition factors in development. A varying agenda of theory and research has paved the way for framing the different quests in describing developmental psychology of art.
