Sex and gender - the troubled relationship between terms and concepts
Article Abstract:
A proposed standard definition for the use of the words sex and gender is viewed as simplistic since the problems associated with these two terms are conceptualrather than terminological. The need to address the differing epistemologies involving sex-related causality that co-exist in the field is instead emphasized. Psychologists are urged to continue to modify terminology as the requirements of scientific inquiry call for.

Sorry, wrong number - a reply to Gentile's call
Article Abstract:
The call for a new terminological standard in the useof the words sex and gender is considered cumbersome and deterministic. The proposal is seen to lead to more confusion in the proliferation of terms. It ispointed out that advocating for specific terminology on an assumption of scientific certainty may result in more simplistic, wrongheaded as well as misguided pronouncements.

Just what are sex and gender, anyway?: a call for a new terminological standard
Article Abstract:
The lack of terminological clarity of the terms sex and gender and the problems arising from this lack of clarity are discussed. Five interpretations of these two terms used by social scientists are cited and a standard vocabulary for each is proposed. A distinct technical term for each of the fivedistinct meanings is seen to clear up the confusion over these two words.
