Spouses' reasons for not reporting existing marital aggression as a marital problem
Article Abstract:
Majority of couples seeking marital therapy, experience physical violence in their relationship. However, only a few spontaneously report or identify such violence as causing problems. Both women and men perceive their partners' aggression as less problematic, because it is unstable or infrequent and secondary to or caused by other problems. Wives tend to report their husbands' aggression as a problem, more often than vice versa. Mildly and severely aggressive spouses differ in their reporting of the problem.
