The significance of national pride and national identity to the attitude toward the single European currency: a European-wide comparison
Article Abstract:
A study of the differences in European attitudes toward Economic and Monetary Union showed that national identity and national pride were defined by multi-dimensional constructs, where nationalism is associated with a discrimination dimension, while patriotism is identified with a categorization dimension. 'European patriotism' is established as a third dimension of national identity.
