On the big (flat) screen
Article Abstract:
Apple's Cinema Display generates an outstanding high-quality picture, exemplifying the best that the industry currently has to offer, but the product is expensive, costing about $4,000, and is available in limited quanities. Other drawbacks are that the Cinema Display works with a special card, which comes with it, and will not work with most video cards. Moreover, the Cinema Display is not being offered as a standalone product but must be purchased with a new G4 computer. Pricing for the bundle starts at $5,600. Three other displays are singled out for mention: the Silicon Graphics 1600SW; the miro Radius Artica; and the IBM T85D Flat Panel Monitor.

Welcome home
Article Abstract:
Several interior designers' Web sites are examined on the theory that their sites should exemplify how places of reception are laid out and decorated. For example, Richard Pollack and Associates home page (www.rpaarch.com) opens with an animated graphic that shows an idea evolving from a sketch to a finished product. Other sites include Holton and Associates (www.holton.net); Smash Design (www.smashdesign.com); Mark Zeff Consulting Group (www.nystyle.com/markzeff); Metropolis magazine (www.metropolismag.com); and Mosser Design (www.mosserdesign.net).

Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2040u
Article Abstract:
Mitsubishi's $1,179 DiamondPro 2040u monitor is a good product but it fails to measure up to the standard of excellence established by the company's other offerings. The 2040u, like Mitsubishi's other DiamondPro displays, comes with a flat screen that enhances images by minimizing distortion and glare, but even so, the 2040u's sharpness and clarity will not be adequate for some who work with applications that demand precision with details.
