Industrial/distribution survey results
Article Abstract:
Some 40% of managers questioned felt that there was a shortage of skilled labour in the North East of England. Senior managers employed in industrial and distribution business in the North East were questioned for the Estates Gazette survey. Local security was very important to 74% of respondents who were also willing to contribute funds to help finance extra security measures. More than 80% of those questioned considered that the A1 road needed to be improved. Some 22% of respondents preferred leases of 25 years whilst 50% wanted leases of no longer than 10 years.

Office survey results
Article Abstract:
Some 53% of office managers questioned felt that the renovation of the river docks area in Newcastle, England, would have a good effect on their businesses. Senior managers of commercial enterprises in the north east of England were interviewed for the Estates Gazette survey. Some 44% of managers considered that the greatest competition to Newcastle came from Leeds, England, whilst Scotland and London did not present an important challenge. The renovation of the A1 road was supported by 80% of managers.
