Article Abstract:
The aftermath of Hurricane Andrew pointed to the need for more preparation to cope with such events, and drawbacks in certain types of insurance policies. Some insurers, for example, found people did not have enough cover to replace what they lost. The situation could happen again, with increased storms predicted by some experts, and there may be a need for more government involvement in the home insurance market, following the refusal of some insurers to renew policies in the wake of this hurricane.
