Occupiers go for economy
Article Abstract:
The office market in Glasgow, Scotland, is competitive but keenly priced properties will find occupiers. The overall office market has grown, with some 69% of the total properties let in 1998, being let in the first six months of 1999. Often the very best space is harder to lease. Some developers have had to lower their rents to find an occupier, such as in The Beacon where rents have gone down to 17 pounds sterling per sq ft. Local agents point out some speculative development is still going ahead.

Leading from the centre
Article Abstract:
The UK government has developed new approaches to town centre planning over recent years, and these will have a considerable impact on office development work. Emphasis is now being placed on cutting down the use of cars, encouraging mixed use and ensuring sustainability. The likely outcome of the change of policy is that office development will be focused on town centres, rather than out-of-town sites. This presents the problem of ensuring adequate parking provision.
