Alba De Cespedes
Article Abstract:
Novelist Alba De Cespedes showed unconventional behaviour from an early age. She was imprisoned in 1935 and 1943 for anti-Fascist activities, and was greatly influenced by novelist and poet Cesare Pavese. Her writing style was extremely unorthodox and very self-conscious. She greatly admired the work of novelist Sibilla Aleramo, and published her work in her own literary magazine, Il Mercurio. She gained international recognition for her novel 'Quaderno proibito,' published in 1952.
