An exotic tongue-sandwich to chew on
Article Abstract:
The New European Writers' season run by the Royal Court Theatre in London, England, clearly highlights how different cultures perceive each other. The project has brought a range of new drama to the attention of ordinary people in the UK, including five contemporary German pieces. Those involved in staging these works have had a frank exchange of views on issues including translation and the relationship between writers and directors. The New European Writers' season is seen as having played a valuable role in challenging the widely-held view in the UK that Germans lack a sense of humour.

Students speak with celluloid tongue
Article Abstract:
It is probably true to claim that today's young adults cannot quote from literary classics such as Shakespeare and Dickens in a way which was common in previous generations. However, there are now new sayings and quotations which are commonly used among students. These mainly come from films, the most popular being 'Star Wars,' 'Hard Boiled,' 'Reservoir Dogs,' 'The Unusual Suspects' and 'Goldeneye.' These sayings are usually very difficult for older people to identify.
