Black wall of water swept down the gorge, crushing everyone in its path
Article Abstract:
A flash flood killed 19 people who were on a canyoning expedition in the Saxeten Gorge near Interlaken, Switzerland. The victims, who included two guides from local company Adventure World, were swept down the Saxeten river into Lake Brienz by a 7mt high wall of water. Canyoning, which involves jumping or abseiling down the sides of a gorge into a white water river and then bodysurfing downstream, has become a popular activity in Switzerland among both local people and foreigners seeking adventure.

Article Abstract:
It is extremely unfair that personnel from the East German security agency, the Stasi, who dealt with foreign espionage but were based in the former East Germany are immune from prosecution, according to Gabriele Albin, formerly a military translator at the US embassy in Bonn, Germany. She is currently standing trial on charges of betraying Nato military secrets to the Stasi. She was duped by Stasi agents, who themselves are now exempt from prosecution.
