Boom boom bust
Article Abstract:
There is still strong demand for seats on Concorde, the only commercial supersonic aircraft in the world, even though ticket prices have risen considerably recently. The first Concorde flight across the north Atlantic was made in 1976, but the aircraft continues to attract great interest and admiration. However, Concorde has not been a commercial success. Only 14 Concorde aircraft were sold, with seven going to Air France and seven to BOAC, now part of British Airways. Air France's Concordes are hardly used at all, while British Airways' are only airborne for an average of just over two hours a day.

Pack up your troubles...
Article Abstract:
The coast of County Antrim, Northern Ireland, has some spectacular scenery. It is particularly interesting to travel along the A2 from Larne to Cushendall, stopping at local pubs on the way. Cushendall is a very good base from which the explore the Nine Glens of Antrim, valleys with extremely steep sides. The town of Ballycastle has considerable charm, and is also only five miles from Carrick-a-Rede Island, separated from the mainland by a rope walkway.

Cold comfort
Article Abstract:
The Siberian town of Irkutsk is extremely remote, and generally suffers severe weather conditions. It is built on the marshy banks of the Angara river, and many of the buildings put up by the original settlers are now sinking. It has few tourist attractions, but it is worth visiting nearby Lake Baikal, a freshwater lake which freezes solidly in winter.
