Boys in arms find peace a trial
Article Abstract:
Around 2,000 young boys fought for Captain Valentine Strasser's military government against the Revolutionary United Front rebels in the civil war which raged in Sierra Leone from 1991 to 1994. A similar number of children fought on the side of the rebels. They were among many child soldiers in war-torn countries across Africa. They enjoyed having a certain status, and were favoured by the forces they jointed because they had no responsibilities and obeyed orders readily.
