Cuban Gold: for export only
Article Abstract:
The music scene in Havana, Cuba, was very strong in the 1950s, but even then musicians had to endure considerable deprivation. This continues to be the case, but the city's musical life is now beginning to revive after a period of obscurity. Foreign record companies are producing their own recordings in Cuba, and links are being created with the US, Spain and the UK. There is interest both in the new generation of Havana dance and music stars and in the traditional country artists.

I had that Thinker in the back of my cab once
Article Abstract:
Car boot sales have now become extremely popular in the UK, especially among people seeking items from the 1960s and 1970s which have until recently been regarded as unfashionable. It is still possible to purchase such items very cheaply, and with a bit of effort the careful purchaser can equip an entire house or buy a completely new wardrobe at a car boot sale. This approach reflects the growing trend towards no-fashion, which is now even seen in leading glossy magazines.

And the heat goes on
Article Abstract:
Spanish flamenco dance star Joaquin Cortes has attracted a great deal of publicity, and this has led some observers to question whether he has real links with the origins of flamenco dance. However, it is clear that he really is a very talented dancer, and he is very proud to be part of the New Flamenco movement in Spain. He is quite a modest person, and remains committed to his origins.
