Dispute over maps delays US peace deal
Article Abstract:
All parties to the war in Bosnia now agree that the country should be divided in two, with a Muslim-Croat federation receiving 51% and the Bosnian Serbs 49%. However, negotiations over the exact structure of the deal are proving very sensitive. The Bosnian government is concerned that a Serbian-Bosnian Serb confederation would lead to the Serbian annexation of the Bosnian Serb region, while some Muslim politicians believe that links between Croatia and Bosnian Croats and Muslims will lead to Muslims in a Greater Croatian area becoming second-class citizens.

Karadzic defies West by handing power to militant ally
Article Abstract:
A recent reorganisation of the Bosnian Serb government has been designed to emphasise to the west that Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic remains strongly opposed to the Dayton peace agreement. He has appointed hardliner Gojko Klickovic as prime minister, and will also delegate some of his presidential powers to extreme nationalist Biljana Plavsic, who is very close to him. Observers feel that Karadzic will still be in ultimate control.
