Let the legal battle begin
Article Abstract:
There are indications that the US Justice Dept believes that Microsoft's domination of the software industry can be overcome by breaking the company up. In a case against Microsoft now coming to court, the Justice Dept will seek to prove that the company deliberately used its existing dominance against Netscape. This case is particularly significant for its wider implications, but it is unlikely that Microsoft will be broken up in the foreseeable future, as anti-trust cases take a very long time to resolve.

Court battle of the computer giants
Article Abstract:
Microsoft is fighting back strongly against US government allegations that it abused its powers in the market place. Evidence is being gathered from many different sources, and the case is progressing very slowly. A written testimony from Apple executive Avadis Tevanian, who is to appear shortly, claims that Microsoft changed an important piece of software in order to disable Apple's 'Quicktime' multimedia product and place Compaq under pressure not to use the product.
