Documentary filmmaker Henri Storck became interested in films as a teenager. He founded a film club in 1929, and in 1930 started making amateur films. He studied film-making in Paris, France, and his early work brought him to the attention of Vigo, who hired him as an assistant on 'Zero de Conduite.' He linked with Dutch filmmaker Joris Ivens on 'Misere au Borinage' in 1933. His best films include 'Les Maisons de la misere,' made in 1937.

William Hanna
Article Abstract:
Filmmaker William Hanna was born in Melrose, NM, in 1910. He began his working life as a construction engineer, but moved to cartoon production firm Pacific Art and Title. He became head of the inking and painting department at the Harmon-Ising Studio in 1934.
