How Mary reduced her big problem
Article Abstract:
Mary Flynn, who is 4ft 11ins, had a bust size of 36 GG, the largest cup size available, which caused her pain in the neck and sholders. She had to pay 20 pounds sterling for a bra and put up with jokey remarks. Friends and doctors did not believe it was a problem until she met consultant plastic surgeon Douglas Harrison. He conducted a breast-reduction operation which took three hours and cost 3,500 pounds sterling. There is a chance of scarring, loss of sensation in the nipples and lumpy breasts, but most women with this problem are so distressed that they are not concerned about the risks.

Perspiration problem? No sweat
Article Abstract:
Many people, especially young women, suffer acute embarrassment due to excessive sweating, or hyperhydrosis, but this can be cured by simple keyhole surgery in the chest, each side taking about ten minutes. Problem perspiration affects the palms of the hands, the armpits and the feet. The operation involves the cauterising of ganglions, knotty clumps of nerve cells, in the chest using an electrically heated instrument after collapsing the lung and then entering via incisions near the armpit. Women who have had the operation have said it has transformed their lives.

No fish fingers, no problem
Article Abstract:
Children with phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare liver condition, must be kept on an extremely strict reduced protein diet. If this diet is not followed, excess phenylalanine can build up in the brain and cause mental retardation within the first few years of life. The diet can be relaxed slightly as the child grows older and the brain becomes more developed, but people with the condition must still consume only very small amounts of protein.
