How Mary's monster became today's myth
Article Abstract:
The myth of Frankinstein developed from a Gothic tale by Mary Shelley, who was the wife of the poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. She told the story of a creation by Dr Frankenstein who became a monster, and she sought to deal with the issue of whether its evil nature resulted from lack of love, or was the cause of its being unloved. Her novel is relevant in modern times and has helped shape our views of scientists. We have turned her story into a myth and we could demythologise the story.

Your children are my business
Article Abstract:
Most child abuse in the UK takes place within the child's own home by members of his or her family or by the parents' friends, according to a report from the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. This implies that parents cannot be trusted to ensure that their children are not abused. In many cases, other people were already aware or suspected that abuse was taking place, but did not have the courage to take action to prevent it.
