I was not jumping to any conclusions, says Branson
Article Abstract:
Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin empire, has given evidence to the High Court in London, England, indicating that he believed that Guy Snowden, head of US lottery concern GTech, was offering Virgin a very large sum of money to withdraw its bid to gain the UK lottery franchise. Legal representatives for Snowden have suggested that Branson may have drawn the wrong conclusion, but Branson is adamant that he believed that Snowden was attempting bribery. He is suing Snowden for claiming he made the bribery allegation when there was not enough evidence to support it.

Salmon, chilled chardonnay and then the bribe bombshell
Article Abstract:
A jury at the High Court in London, England, has agreed that Guy Snowden, head of US concern GTech, attempted to bribe Richard Branson to abandon his bid to run the UK's lottery. Branson admitted that Snowden did not ask him specifically to abandon his bid, but he stated that Snowden clearly led him to believe that Branson's plan to launch a bid to run the lottery on a not-for-profit basis would be damaging to GTech. The trial of Snowden became as much a clash of cultures as a clash of individuals.
