Article Abstract:
The victim of a violent attack should be determined not to accept any shame or blame for what happened, according to Merlyn Nuttall, who was violently attacked, sexually assaulted and left for dead in Feb 1992. She has now written a book about the attack and how she recovered from it. She felt very grateful to have survived her ordeal, and this is what fuelled her recovery. Indeed, the attack actually had a worse long-term effect on her friends and family.
