'In the classroom, he would barricade himself behind furniture at the back.'
Article Abstract:
A mother is interviewed about her experiences with trying to obtain specialist help for her son, who displayed problem behaviour from a very early age. Her initial acceptance of his behaviour is discussed, and her subsequent meetings with professionals including paediatricians and child psychologists are detailed. Her frustration at the negative response of her son's school to his problems is considered, and her belief that her son's situation could have been eased by intervention at an earlier stage is expressed.
