Boxer Jerry Quarry turned professional in 1965 at the age of 19 after an amateur career covering 200 fights. He won his opening 21 contests, but lost to Eddie Machen in his 22nd fight. His most famous fight was in Oct 1970 in Atlanta, GA, when he faced Muhammad Ali. His career underwent a revival in 1973, when he outpointed Ron Lyle and knocked out Earnie Shavers. He retired in 1975, but returned with a win in 1977 and retired again for six years.

Dick Richardson
Article Abstract:
Boxer Dick Richardson developed his interest in boxing after beginning his national service in 1953. He was a Royal Army Service Corps champion, and turned professional after working as a plasterer and a labourer. He won a succession of fights in 1955, but lost on points to Joe Erskine in 1956. He won the European title by beating German boxer Hans Kalbfell in Mar 1960.
