Justice shot to pieces
Article Abstract:
Little progress has been made with the investigation into the murder of Irish crime journalist Veronica Guerin in Jun 1996. The investigation has been surrounded by controversy, especially when it was revealed that the murder inquiry team had been the victim of bugging. It now seems increasingly unlikely that a strong prosecution can be mounted against the real criminals. Organized crime seems to have been involved, and it is very difficult to bring such cases in Dublin, Ireland.

Hunt for killer of 8 missing women
Article Abstract:
A special team of detectives has been established in Ireland to investigate the possibility that a serial killer could be responsible for the disappearances of up to eight women in the same area. Six of the eight women disappeared within a 30-mile radius of Newbridge, Ireland, while all except two of the disappearances took place within 50 miles of Dublin, Ireland. The number of unresolved missing persons cases is becoming a political controversy in Ireland.

Pollution fear as Irish cattle deaths mount
Article Abstract:
It is possible that industrial pollution is causing the cattle deaths and human illnesses which are being reported at up to 20 farms in County Limerick, western Ireland. There have been many animal deaths linked to the immune system, and children of farmers have required specialist treatment. Local residents believe that the problems could be being caused by acrid emissions from nearby industry.
