Asking for fairness
Article Abstract:
Concerns are being expressed in the UK about the treatment of rape victims by courts. Some rape victims report that they feel that they are being condemned by the court, with their character being closely scrutinized and criticized. The Home Office has responded to these concerns by initiating a study into why the conviction rate for rape has declined dramatically, even though there has been a large rise in the number of rapes recorded by the police. The Crown Prosecution Service has set up a pilot course to train prosecutors in rape cases.

Fair shares for part-owners
Article Abstract:
There are sensitive political and social issues which are standing in the way of changes to the law regarding property rights of homesharers in the UK. It is widely recognised that amendments are needed, but it is uncertain whether these will be made, especially in the light of the controversy over the Domestic Violence and Family Homes Bill in 1995. There is particular debate over whether contributions made by unmarried homesharers should be given legal recognition.
