Happy as Larry: Larry Ellison, guru of Oracle and the luckiest playboy in Silicon Valley
Article Abstract:
Computer software firm Oracle Corp founder Larry Ellison has a flamboyant image. He enjoys being involved in quite risky leisure pursuits, such as flying disarmed fighter aircraft, and is not willing to settle for half-measures, either in his personal life or in business. He remains in the shadow of Microsoft's Bill Gates, but hopes that the Internet will help him to eventually move ahead of Gates. He believes that, in contrast with Microsoft, Oracle became involved with the Internet sufficiently early to benefit from it.

The prophet of 'less is more.' (Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle)(Interview)
Article Abstract:
It is now time to look at launching a new range of home computers which can be connected to networks such as the Internet, according to Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle. These 'network computers' will be able to store information and programs elsewhere on the network, and will only have to access the areas of the network which they need to use. It is not yet certain how such equipment would integrate with existing networks and services, but Ellison is confident that a launch will go ahead in 1997.
