Nice one, Eric
Article Abstract:
Becoming involved in a classical play such as Moliere's 'The School For Wives' was an unusual departure for an actor who has always had closer connections with vaudeville, according to Eric Sykes. He is completely deaf and has very poor eyesight, but is still able to undertake a very impressive comic routine. He has always been an expert in visual comedy, feeling at a visual joke is much more effective than large amounts of written comedy. He now seems to be making a comeback, and is at ease with modern comedy.

Nice 'n' sleazy does it
Article Abstract:
Choosing actor Trevor Eve to play an MP who is unfaithful to his wife in Paula Milne's morality tale 'The Politician's Wife,' which is soon to be shown on Channel 4, rather flatters MPs, as he is more handsome than the majority of MPs. However, his performance is excellent, capturing the psychology of the liar and the adulterer perfectly. There are moments of great erotic tension, even though the MP and his mistress do not actually have a filmed scene together.

Lear complex
Article Abstract:
It is better to aim for originality than to follow in the footsteps of others, according to actor Nigel Hawthorne. He has done little theatre work recently, as he feels increasingly uncomfortable with it. However, he has appeared in a number of high-profile films. Most recently, he has a leading role in 'The Fragile Heart,' written for Channel 4 by Paula Milne. He regards this as a very challenging role with considerable depth and passion.
