Partners in crime go back to school
Article Abstract:
Former prisoners Ian Calder and Dave Gregory are receiving funding to work part-time with teenagers in Manchester, England, who are at risk of becoming involved in crime. They do not hesitate to make the teenagers aware of harsh realities, and do not allow them to regard themselves as merely victims of circumstances. They encourage the teenagers to believe in themselves and to feel that they can change the world for the better. Teachers report that the teenagers who have been referred to Calder and Gregory have calmed down a lot.

A slice of the action
Article Abstract:
There are signs that gangster activity is spreading beyond its traditional strongholds in Manchester, England. There is strong competition between rival gangs in parts of the city where crime levels have been high for some time, and gangsters are therefore seeking new areas to exploit. This trend is reflected in the recent attack in a formerly quiet part of the city on Louis Makin. He was very severely injured, but police are not even sure that he was the intended victim.

The last of all resorts
Article Abstract:
The seaside resort of Bridlington, England, continues to attract many elderly visitors, who enjoy the relaxed pace of life and the warm welcome offered by owners of bed and breakfast accommodation. The town has many inexpensive cafes and fish and chip shops, and local people are very friendly. However, traditional seaside resorts of this kind no longer attract young people, who prefer to spend the same amount of money to travel abroad to destinations such as Ibiza, Spain.
