Article Abstract:
A Roper Starch Worldwide survey has found that almost 50% of those who suffer from chronic severe pain due to a number of causes excluding cancer are not able to find relief for their condition. M.D. patient-care shaped by HMO rules
Article Abstract:
A Stanford University Medical Center study found that health maintenance organizations' (HMO) restrictions on physician patient care decisions are causing doctors to downgrade their decisions for all patients including those paying fee-for-service. Results of the survey also found a significant link between increases in HMO market share and declines in fee-for-service expenditures for patients covered by the government Medicare program.
