Civil servant and writer Philip Mason gained a first class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Balliol College, Oxford, England. He joined the Indian Civil Service in 1928, holding positions including Assistant Magistrate in the United Provinces and Under-Secretary in the War Dept. He took early retirement and turned to writing. However, he found it necessary to take part-time employment at the Royal Institute of International Affairs as Director of Studies in the area of Race Relations in 1952.

Sir Colin Walker

Farmer and public servant Colin Walker was Chmn of the former Eye Constituency Conservative Association and shortlisted twice as a parliamentary candidate. He was a county councillor in Suffolk, England, between 1976 and 1980, and All Party European Movement Chmn in Suffolk from 1979 to 1981. He headed East Suffolk Health Authority, and was then East Anglian Regional Health Authority Chmn between 1987 and 1994. He was National Blood Authority Chmn between 1993 and 1998.

Sir Charles Cunningham
Article Abstract:
Civil servant Charles Cunningham gained first class honours in Classics at St Andrews University, Scotland. He entered the Scottish Office in 1929, soon becoming Private Secretary to Secretary of State Colonel Sir Godfrey Collins. He served in the Scottish Office during the second world war, and at the age of 42 became Permanent Secretary. After retiring early, he became Deputy Chmn of the Atomic Energy Authority and then Chmn of the Radio Chemical Centre.
