Policymakers are losing their grip on the weightless economy; much of today's 'production' has no material form
Article Abstract:
Modern economies are becoming much less easy to measure accurately, as a growing proportion of the value of output has no physical form. Economies are dematerializing, and this makes traditional measures of economic performance unviable. In a weightless economy, it is very difficult to measure quality changes, and economists now have no way of assessing a large part of a country's national product. Information technology is present in all areas of the economy, but information technology-related activity is impossible to classify.

Where Britain gets it wrong
Article Abstract:
It is now time to undertake a wide-reaching review of the UK's foreign policy. Many ordinary people are very concerned about foreign policy issues, especially those which are related to Europe, and they cannot be detached from domestic policy. The UK still seems too willing to fit in with other countries' approaches to problems such as the war in Bosnia, and has not been quick enough to pursue its own interests.

Europe must prepare for Easternisation
Article Abstract:
Political developments in the West are becoming increasingly influenced by the growing power of Asian nations. World affairs will begin to focus on the Far East, and this will have a significant impact on the foreign policy of Western countries. Industry will have to align itself with this trend, accepting that it will have to adopt Asian innovation and technology.
