No road ahead for 78 traffic schemes
Article Abstract:
The UK government's roads review has led to 18 large road schemes being abandoned and plans for a further 60 being postponed. However, environmentalists are still expressing concern about the government's decision to approve the widening of the most congested section of the M25 London orbital road between junctions 12 and 15 at Heathrow airport. The roads review also includes several radical measures designed to reduce traffic congestion.

Why the Treasury should win the battle for the Underground
Article Abstract:
Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, England, plans to improve public transport in the city by charging car users five pounds sterling to drive into the centre, with this money being invested in public transport. It is argued that this scheme will not bring any long-term improvement to the management of the Underground.
