Professor Jeremy Burdett
Article Abstract:
Chemist Jeremy Burdett undertook postgraduate studies from 1968 as Power Foundation Fellow at the University of Michigan. He developed a great sense of respect for US chemistry, and this had a significant impact on the rest of his scientific career. He became Professor of Chemistry at the University of Chicago in 1978, and remained there until his death. He was particularly influential in showing how relatively simple theoretical ideas obtained from organic and inorganic chemistry could have relevance for the world of solids.
