Trade union leader Reg Bottini became a shipping clerk before working in land drainage during the second world war. He became a junior assistant in the legal department of the National Union of Agricultural Workers, and in 1954 was appointed head of the negotiating department. He was a leading member of the Agricultural Wages Board from 1963, and was selected in Dec 1969 as General Secretary of the National Union of Agricultural and Allied Workers.

Jimmy McGinley
Article Abstract:
Jimmy McGinley was a Scottish politician who started work as a miner at the Coal Board. He was born in 1937 and after 14 years at the Coal Board he moved to British Motor Corp where he eventually became deputy quality manager. He left the company in 1976 to carry out local government duties in West Lothian, Scotland, which included chairing the housing committee. He was also a political agent, campaigning for the Scottish Nationalist Party.

Jimmy Knapp
Article Abstract:
Railway signalman and trade-unionist Jimmy Knapp was born in Galston, Scotland, in 1940. He joined the railways at 15, becoming a signalman at 20 and secretary of the local branch of the NUR at 21.
