Article Abstract:
Journalist, painter and etcher Andrew Murray entered Wadham College, Oxford, England, in 1936 to read Modern History. He joined the Navy as a telegraphist at the outbreak of the second world war. He left the UK in 1946 for Durban, South Africa, where he married and subsequently became editor of the Catholic weekly The Southern Cross in Cape Town, South Africa. He began to develop as a painter after the age of 40 after receiving a gift of paints and brushes.

Allen Drury
Article Abstract:
Journalist and novelist Allen Drury gained his BA from Stanford University in 1939. He became editor of the Tulare Bee, then served for a short time in the US Army. He started work as a journalist in the Senate in 1943, and from 1947 to 1953 was national editor of Pathfinder Magazine. He then worked as a reporter for the Washington Evening Star and the New York Times. He started work on a novel, which was to become 'Advise and Consent,' in the early 1950s.
