The art of making death look good
Article Abstract:
Embalming is becoming increasingly popular in Britain. Psychologists believe that seeing the body is an important part of the grieving process for those bereaved. The procedure involves injecting embalming fluid into the arteries, then removing all other fluids and gases from the body. Mutilated bodies can be reconstructed using wax. If it is not embalmed, a body will begin to decompose within 24 hours. The British Institute of Embalmers is seeking legislation to ensure all embalmers are registered and properly trained.
