The priests who fell to Earth
Article Abstract:
The Catholic Church in the UK is beginning to realize that it can no longer ignore the fact that sexual abuse by clergy has taken place in the past and is still taking place. The church has traditionally responded to allegations of sexual abuse by moving the priest to another parish or sending him for treatment. Ray Wyre, director of the Gracewell Clinic in Birmingham, England, the only residential centre in the UK for sex offenders, believes that it would now be appropriate to introduce direct instruction at seminaries about the possible problems priests will experience in relating to their sexuality.

Spanish bombs pose test of tourists' nerve
Article Abstract:
The Spanish Basque Homeland and Liberty terrorist group left four bombs in holiday areas of Spain in a 24-hour period between July 20 and 21 1996. Some 34 people were hurt by a bomb which exploded at Reus airport on July 20 1996. On July 21 1996 a bomb in the Delfin Park Hotel, Salou, was made safe. Hotel owners and tour operators are most concerned about these attacks on the industry. The feeling in the industry in the UK is that UK travellers will not let the risks stop them travelling.

Marriages made in heaven?
Article Abstract:
Bishops' wives are generally more liberal-minded than their husbands. They often seek to avoid being stereotyped, and may well have a full-time career of their own. They are no longer prepared to feel ignored and powerless, and are keen to express their own views. Some have shown great determination to assert their own identity. The recent Lambeth Conference has given them a valuable opportunity to talk to other women in the same situation.
