The shooting war starts for real now
Article Abstract:
Nato air attacks against Yugoslavia are now entering their second phase, in which low-level attacks will be made against Serb artillery, tanks and troop concentrations using missiles and laser-guided bombs. A more aggressive approach will be adopted, with the RAF taking on an enhanced role. General Sir Charles Guthrie, chief of the defence staff, has indicated that the widening of the air attacks will make it possible to include new targets that will create disruption for the regime of Yugoslavian President Slobodan Milosevic.

Riddle of Yemen's shifting sands ensnares muddled Foreign Office
Article Abstract:
Conflicting allegations are being made regarding five Britons who have been detained in Yemen. Supporters and relatives of the men claim that the UK government is handling the situation incompetently. Three of the detainees claim that they have been tortured, and if these claims are upheld and the men released, there are likely to be stronger allegations that the UK government should have taken firmer action sooner. Counter-claims indicate that the detainees have been involved in plotting terrorist activity.

Strategy is to step up the pressure each day
Article Abstract:
Nato air strikes against Yugoslavia are designed to systematically destroy air defences and other military capabilities. The initial strikes focused on the integrated air defence system, but subsequent strikes were expected to include direct hits on army and special police units, both in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, and in other parts of the country. General Wesley Clark, Nato's Supreme Commander in Europe, has warned that there will be serious consequences if the Yugoslavs do not yield to Nato pressure.
