Tom Iremonger
Article Abstract:
Colonial officer and politician Tom Iremonger joined the Colonial Administrative Service in 1938. He volunteered to go to the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, partly because he was a keen sailor. He returned to the UK after the second world war, and between 1954 and 1975 was Conservative MP for Ilford North. Soon after he was elected, he became Parliamentary Private Secretary to Sir Fitzroy Maclean, who was at that time Under-Secretary of State for War.

Frank Haynes
Article Abstract:
Coalminer and politician Frank Haynes became a miner in Nottinghamshire, England, at the age of 18. He remained at the pit face until he was elected to the House of Commons in 1979. He became active in the National Union of Mineworkers, and became interested in politics through attending the Labour party conference. He was very successful as a member of Nottinghamshire County Council. As an MP, he specialized in energy, coal and health.

Roberto Campos
Article Abstract:
Politician and diplomat Roberto Campos was born in Cuiaba, Brazil, in 1917. He studied philosophy and theology at the seminary of Belo Horizonte, and then became a teacher. He joined the diplomatic service at the age of 22.
