Why we are not wrong to compare Milosevic to Hitler
Article Abstract:
It is possible to draw some parallels between Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic and Adolf Hitler. Like Hitler with the Jews, Milosevic has risen to power by fuelling the concerns of some Serbs about their Croat and Muslim neighbours. He has sought to unite Serbs in a state under his control, and is now aiming to remove ethnic Albanians from Kosovo, Yugoslavia, in order to create living space for Serb refugees. Just as little practical action was taken against Hitler's attacks on German Jews in the 1930s, so the world has done nothing to assist the people of Kosovo during the 1990s.

Is there a magic formula for peace in the Balkans?
Article Abstract:
Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic is probably strongly aware that he will have to reach an agreement with Nato at some stage. However, he does not feel any real urgency to do so yet. Nato is encouraging Russian efforts to broker a peace deal because it wishes to improve its relations with Russia, but will not compromise on its basic aims or abandon its military action in order to allow diplomacy the chance to settle the conflict. As long as Milosevic remains in power, there will be no easy way to extract either Nato or the Yugoslav authorities from the conflict.
