A theory of everything takes shape
Article Abstract:
A series of breakthroughs has enabled physicists to bring together the equations of string theory to form one coherent theory governing the matter and forces in the physical world. The discovery of the dualities of string theory was the key factor in renewing interest in research in the area.

How black holes may get string theory out of a bind
Article Abstract:
Theoretical physicists David Morrison, Andrew Strominger and Brian Greene reported that string theory can be simplified when the quantum effects of black holes are considered. The theorists claim that strings and the simplest, smallest black holes are actually the same phenomena.

How collapsing stars might hide their tracks in black holes
Article Abstract:
Physicists Hans Bethe and Gerald Brown have theorized that supernovas from stars of less than 30 solar masses can collapse all the way into small black holes. Their analysis is based on a new equation of state for the matter inside a collapsed star.
