Evidence mounts for our African origins - and alternatives
Article Abstract:
A study of DNA from global populations suggest that all non-African people sprang from a migration through northeast Africa as recently as 100,000 years ago. A small section of nuclear DNA occurred in many variations in sub-Saharan Africa, but only one version spread to the rest of the world.

Why mammal ears went on the move

Paleontologist Timothy Rowe theorizes that the small bones that form the hinge of the mammalian jaw migrated to form the modern middle ear after a prolonged period of brain growth. The bones began to move as the skull expanded to accommodate the larger brain.

Anthropologist Steven Churchill found that Late Upper Paleolithic males had rounder, less-think humeri than Neanderthal and Early Upper Paleolithic males. The shift may correspond with the development of spears that could be thrown rather than thrust.
