House wires: Home automation is slowly approaching
Article Abstract:
Most homes have basic forms of automation, such as television remote controls and central heating timers. The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA), the trade organization for the home automation industry was set up 10 years ago, catering for the high end of the home electronics market. The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust has introduced home automation to two demonstrator homes, as part of broader research into the way people interact with their living environment. However the widespread introduction of home automation is hampered by cost and people's attitudes to change.

Master plans: The MBA is not the only postgraduate business course for engineers
Article Abstract:
Engineers have often used the MBA to move into higher management, but alternative courses can also provide the bridge between technical experience and a broader managerial role. The masters in management science is a course for graduates who wish to move into management. It is offered at the graduate school of business at University College Dublin, and it helps students to use their engineering skills and apply them to problem solving. However traditional MBAs are still the choice of many engineers who see it is vitally important as a formal management qualification.
