Astronomers are debating a paper written by David Gray stating that an extrasolar planet thought to be orbiting the star 51 Pegasi was not there after all. Gray blames mistaken data for the error, but some are calling his conclusions premature.

Hints of a planet orbiting sunlike star

Astronomers have discovered a wobble in star 51 Pegasi that they theorize is caused by a massive planet orbiting very close to the star. This is the first discovery of a planet orbiting a sunlike star outside the solar system.
