The prion diseases
Article Abstract:
The once-unpopular notion that prions, long known to cause such animal disorders as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, are responsible for certain human diseases is now widely accepted in the scientific community. Diseases caused by prions include Kuru, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, and fatal familial insomnia.

CDC - disease central for the whole world
