Water key ingredient in Turkish farming
Article Abstract:
The Southeastern Anatolian Development Project in Turkey has brought the much needed irrigation and electricity to farmers along with modern farming techniques and equipment to increase agricultural output. The project provides irrigation for wheat cultivation in the arid regions across the country. Wheat and other traditional crops production in the country has been showing sustainable growth since the implementation of the project. Situated on the banks of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, the project enables the farmers to harvest three crops per year from the same plot.

Population and policies in Bangladesh, Pakistan
Article Abstract:
Some population experts believe that international attempts to slow down population expansion in developing economies have succeeded. The expensive government-funded national family planning programs have been effective at reducing high birth rates, they say. However, others disagree. A comparison of government programs in Pakistan and Bangladesh is given. Bangladesh's family planning education programme was more widely accepted than Pakistan's because less opposition arose due to religious reasons.

Bangladesh seeks sustainable growth
Article Abstract:
Bangladesh's aim to attain self-reliance in food production may remain a distant goal unless the government takes appropriate measures. Unchecked population growth, lack of irrigation, decrease in the available farm land, the traditional methods and illiteracy are some of the problems to be tackled. People require general education as well as training in modern agricultural techniques. Areas other than rice such as fish and poultry farming should be developed to achieve sustainable growth.
