Changes in mental health status amongst children of migrants to Australia: a longitudinal study
Article Abstract:
The article examines the impact of cultural assimilation on children's mental health in Australia. Data were drawn from the interrelationship between region of origin, length of stay and indicators of mental health impairment. Findings indicate that children of migrant parents do not significantly differ from children of Australian-born parents in mental health.

Critical realist theory is used to analyze chronic illness. This theory relates the individual to society in a non-conflationary way and rethinks questions of identiy, difference and ethical care through a commitment t real bodies. Within all this, modern medicine has the continuing goal of the mitigation of human pain.
