Contextual and procedural determinants of partner selection: of asymmetric dominance and prominence
Article Abstract:
The asymmetric dominance and prominence effect in selecting dating partners are examined. Asymmetric dominance claims that the introduction of a third eligible in a two-person field of eligibles will tip the scale towards the dominant eligible. The prominence effect argues that participants give more weight to important attributes when choosing eligibles in choice rather matching response tasks. Findings reveal that early-stage partner selection is imperfect or nonrational. Individuals may end up dating the person they have chosen and become familiar with that person in the process. Familiarity may breed liking which may result in marital relationships.

What I don't recall can't hurt me: information negativity versus information inconsistency as determinants of memorial self-defense.
Article Abstract:
A research program is conducted, using the person memory paradigm, to examine how people process self-referent versus other-referent feedback when it has favorable or unfavorable implications for core aspects of their self-concept. The investigations are aimed at identifying key determinant of mnemic neglect by disentangling information inconsistency from information negativity.
